At Dragon Scale Flooring we can help you select and install the right tile for your residential or commercial remodeling project. We work with ceramic and porcelain tile, natural stone tile, glass tile and even vinyl tile. Based in Maryland, we also work with clients from Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, DC, as well as all over the East Coast. We take care to ensure that your surface is absolutely level before laying tile, so that our work not only looks good, but also lasts for many years.
Ceramic tiles are made primarily of clay and are typically shaped under a press. The resulting product is then glazed to create a shiny surface that is easy to clean and is resistant to moisture. Ceramic tile can be used on floors, walls, countertops and backsplashes, but be aware that the glaze is prone to chipping and cracking.
The clay used for making porcelain tiles is more refined than the clay in ceramic tiles. This composition combined with high-heat processing makes porcelain tile much denser than ceramic, and therefore more resistant to impact and water absorption. Because of its strength and ease of maintenance, porcelain tile can be a durable floor covering.
Natural Stone Tile
Materials such as limestone, granite and slate have long been used for finishing surfaces in kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms. Some natural stone tiles can also be used outdoors on patios and walkways. However, keep in mind that stone can be cold under your feet—consider adding radiant heating underneath the natural stone tile for year-round comfort.
