Terrazzo Project Gallery
You can rely on Dragon Scale Flooring to install beautiful Terrazzo floors in your home or commercial space in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC or anywhere on the East Coast. Terrazzo is a flooring material made by mixing various aggregates, such as marble chips, quartz and glass into a binding base that later hardens and is polished for a smooth, shiny finish. We can install Terrazzo with concrete base and epoxy base, as well as install terrazzo tile. Not sure which Terrazzo flooring to choose? Get in touch with us to get professional guidance.
Terrazzo epoxy is a thin-set epoxy resin speckled with decorative chips that add color and dimension to your flooring. This coating is installed over a level concrete slab, new or existing. Besides adding an attractive top layer to your concrete flooring, Terrazzo epoxy can also provide a durable, resilient and chemical-resistant surface. And because the coating is so thin (typically 1/4” to 3/8 ”), it doesn’t weigh much and is great for multi-story applications. For certain applications where epoxy may not be ideal, polyacrylate and other polymers can be used as Terrazzo base.
Terrazzo cement is a traditional Terrazzo installation that involves mixing cement with the aggregate mix (granite chips, recycled glass, etc), spreading it over a prepared concrete slab and then cleaning and polishing the surface. This is a more time-consuming and typically more costly method of Terrazzo application that creates a much heavier layer than epoxy. Terrazzo concrete is prone to cracking and may need to be periodically resealed to maintain its looks.
If you are after the classic look or simply don’t like the idea of wall-to-wall concrete or epoxy, Terrazzo tile is a great option. Terrazzo tiles are prefabricated in numerous sizes and color options, and are perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, hallways, stairs and many other residential and commercial applications.
