Do you like the look of natural hardwood or stone but don’t want to pay a premium price or worry about maintenance? Then laminate is a fantastic option! And you don’t have to search long to find a professional laminate flooring installer in your area. Dragon Scale Flooring has over 40 years of experience in the flooring industry, having worked on countless laminate, hardwood, tile and similar flooring projects. We install laminate in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC and all over the East Coast.
As you may know, laminates are essentially pictures attached to a backing and laminated with a clear wear layer. Well-made laminate flooring can often be indistinguishable from the real thing at first glance. Laminate is rated form AC1 to AC5 based on how well the backing and the wear layer stand up to heavy traffic, abrasion, stains and other forms of damage. The higher the durability, the higher the AC number. Residential-rated laminate should not be used for commercial applications and vice versa.
Commercial Laminate Flooring
Laminate can be used in moderate-traffic and high-traffic areas in a variety of commercial applications from offices to shopping centers. In areas where the use of real wood may be financially straining or impractical, laminate can combine the looks and durability at a fraction of the cost of natural flooring materials. However, you have to select the right laminate rating for the specific use you have in mind. Laminates rated AC3, AC4 and AC5 can be suitable for commercial use, but anything lower than that and your flooring won’t last long. Because some laminates are made with recycled materials and can be recycled after use, you may also be able to earn LEED credits if you choose laminate flooring.
